Development Phases
Phase 12 — Physical validation and public packaging
Evidence structures, result tooling, public packaging, Apache-2.0 licensing, audits, and documentation are complete. Signed installation/archive are Blocked and all hardware workflows are Not tested because no human evidence was available. No Phase 13 has started.
Phase 11 — Integration hardening
Complete: clean-build reproducibility, deterministic end-to-end fixtures, dependency/concurrency/resource safeguards, security/privacy/accessibility reviews, signing guidance, diagnostic mode, physical plans, release validation, and beta documentation. Physical results and signing remain outstanding. Phase 12 has not started.
Phase 10 — External camera import, synchronization, and calibration
Complete. Phase 10 adds adapter-based GoPro HERO10, DJI Mini 4 Pro, Apple/generic video, deterministic inspection/import, GoPro chapter maps, bounded GPMF/SRT/CSV/JSON telemetry, normalization, linear offset/drift synchronization, multi-camera manifests, orientation transforms, calibration/profiles, derived proxies, validation/recovery, bounded plugins, and platform workspaces. No Phase 11 work or DJI flight control is included.
Phase 9 — Experimental perception research and benchmarking
Complete. Phase 9 adds pinned and resumable experiments, approved-ground-truth selection, eight versioned feature groups, deterministic fixed/cross-validation splits, leakage warnings, transparent fusion and abstention, evaluation/calibration/segmentation metrics, feature caching, error analysis, neutral comparisons, classical-ML export, reproducibility reports, and adaptive research workspaces. Results remain experimental and no Phase 10 capability is included.
Phase 6 — Research Dashboard and Session Review
Phase 6 adds useful iPad and macOS review dashboards, session playback controls and timeline foundations, searchable object and track inspection, neutral run comparison, bookmarks, warnings, accessible charts, deterministic demonstration data, and a reproducible 25-image documentation workflow.
It did not add annotation or training export; those boundaries are implemented in Phase 7.
Phase 7 — Annotation and Training Export
Phase 7 adds versioned human annotation projects, box and polygon correction, track correction and interpolation, review comments and states, autosave and recovery journals, deterministic session-aware and track-aware dataset splitting, validated training exports, adaptive iPad/macOS workspaces, focused iPhone review, tests, screenshots, and documentation.
Phase 8 — Assisted Annotation and Quality Control
Phase 8 adds suggestion provenance and review states, explicit accept/edit/reject/defer transitions, polygon and raster masks, brush/eraser and prompt foundations, temporal propagation suggestions, explainable active-learning queues, neutral model disagreement, quality findings and reports, safe batch revision events, resumable suggestion jobs, type-specific plugin boundaries, local model licensing records, and approved-only export origins. The shipped assistance source is a deterministic fixture rather than a trained model. Physical-device ergonomics and imported model inference remain unvalidated; Phase 9 has not begun.
Phase 1 established the build, module boundaries, dependency injection, models, simulator adapters, logging, tests, documentation, and launchable apps.
Phase 2 adds physical iPhone recording architecture, location/motion collection, deterministic simulator video, recoverable versioned session packages, local review/playback/export/deletion, storage policy, and lifecycle handling. Physical-device operation still requires validation on provisioned hardware. Networking and computer vision remain out of scope.
Phase 3 adds the versioned secure local protocol, discovery, explicit pairing, Keychain trust, encrypted transport, console telemetry/preview, remote-control policy, and reconnect independence. The deterministic simulator lab is the validated reference path; two-device Bonjour and hardware codec performance still require field validation.
Future phases can extend collaborative review, production model adapters, richer quality serializers, external camera-source adapters, and later research capabilities without replacing the Phase 8 review boundary.
Each future phase should preserve public boundaries, replace simulator behavior through protocol conformance, add deterministic tests, update documentation and the changelog, and build every affected platform. Phase 2 must add camera behavior without moving platform frameworks into SharedModels.
Phase 4 — Dataset catalog (complete)
Phase 4 adds schema-v2 durable metadata persistence, search/filter/sort, collections and saved filters, provenance, safe package validation, SHA-256 integrity, duplicate classification, storage accounting and protected deletion, dataset bundle export, and resumable finalized-package transfer foundations.
Phase 5 — Vision analysis
Phase 5 adds deterministic and model-import detection boundaries, persistent tracks, coordinate-safe overlays, taxonomy mapping, object indexing, immutable analysis runs, pause/resume/cancel/recovery, explainable experimental scoring, resource throttling, bounded network updates, segmentation extension points, and derived export fixtures. Full manual annotation and training-data formats remain future work.
