Accessibility

HerbDev is built to work for more people.

HerbDev strives to make HerbDev.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who navigate by keyboard, enlarge content, or use assistive technology. WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the site’s engineering and testing target.

Last reviewed: August 27, 2026

Current accessibility status

HerbDev.com has been audited and hardened against the automated WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA rules available in axe-core. The latest full production crawl tested every canonical page in the sitemap and reported no automated accessibility violations or browser errors.

Automated testing cannot prove complete WCAG conformance. Meaningful alternative text, screen-reader usability, reading order, cognitive clarity, transcript accuracy, touch comfort, and real-world task completion also require human judgment and continuing review.

What has been implemented

  • A keyboard-visible skip link and consistent page landmarks.
  • Visible keyboard focus treatments and keyboard-operable navigation.
  • Improved text contrast and non-color identification for inline links.
  • Accessible names for frames, carousels, and scrollable regions.
  • Larger carousel controls that meet the WCAG 2.2 target-size minimum.
  • Programmatic form labels, autocomplete guidance, and announced contact-form errors.
  • Reduced-motion support on shared and affected animated surfaces.
  • Native audio controls and on-page transcripts for narrated articles.
  • Automated regression checks across the complete canonical sitemap.

Ongoing review

Accessibility is an ongoing process. HerbDev continues to review keyboard behavior, zoom and reflow, focus visibility, image alternatives, link purpose, form recovery, transcripts, touch operation, and compatibility with assistive technologies.

New content and interactions are expected to follow the same accessibility target and automated regression checks before publication.
